Victor Ball Gardner, 97, of Macon, Missouri, passed away on October 2, 2025, at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO.

Vic was born on November 26, 1927, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of James Lee Gardner and Louise Grace (Ball) Gardner. He grew up in Kahoka, Missouri, graduating from Kahoka High School in the Class of 1945. On May 12, 1952, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Sue Carder in Long Beach, California. She preceded him in death.

Vic proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He later worked as an Area Maintenance Supervisor for MODOT, where he dedicated 42 years of service.

An avid outdoorsman, Vic was known as one of the first bowhunters in Missouri. He loved hunting, fishing, canoeing, camping, and guiding trips, and was especially skilled as a fly fisherman. He was also a talented cook with a Dutch oven and enjoyed working with his hands as a craftsman.

He is survived by his two children, Lisa Hoover of Macon, MO, and Lynn (Sharon) Gardner of Altus, OK; grandchildren, Lindsey Ciampanella of Clover, SC, Jennifer (Brett) Stultz of Hallsville, MO, Ashley (Michael) Power of Oklahoma City, OK, Savannah (Garrett) Wardlow of Moore, OK, and Lynn (Herb) Lynn of Concordia, MO; great-grandchildren, Ryan Adams, Holly Fannin, Emerson Benoist, Sam Benoist, Bryer Stultz, Ryker Stultz, Brooks Power, and Claire Wardlow; and great-great-grandson, Brady Arnold. He is also survived by his brother, James Lee (Wanda) Gardner III of Maryland, along with several nieces and nephews.

Vic was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn; his son-in-law, Harold Hoover; and his sister, Betty King.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm, Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO, with Dr. Phil Bray officiating. Family suggests memorials to the Wreaths Across America. Arrangements are under the direction of Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO.
