Peggy Lee Tunnell Welch Boyd was born June 29, 1946 in Tyler, Texas. She was a graduate of Van High School in 1964 and then returned to Van in 2003, living in Dallas the many years in between. She was very involved in Van United Methodist Church, where she helped with the every day operations, sang in the choir and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Fine Arts Club and enjoyed gardening, both vegetables and flowers.
Peggy met her future husband in high school and they dated after he got out of the Army. Due to distance, they went their separate ways for many years, but found themselves back together in the 80's. She loved to spend time with family, especially picking on Frank.
Peggy died at the age of 78 on August 14, 2024 in Tyler. She was preceded in death by her father, Bonnie Cleone Tunnell; mother, Monalow Ragsdale Tunnell; and son, Rhett Boyd.
Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Frank Boyd of Van; two children and their spouses, Shelly & Bret Hankins of Oklahoma and Joel & Rebecca Lee Welch of Austin; sister, Nancy Tunnell of California; three grandchildren, Tyler Hankins, Owen Welch, and Jade Stanley; and many other cousins, relatives and friends.

August 17, 2024

I´d first met Peggy many, many years ago at Frank´s home, then at several family reunions.
She and Frank were still in a long distance relationship.
I knew the first time that I met Peggy that she was a strong, soft, loving, caring soul.
She always knew how to keep everything working, even if a monkey wrench might have been tossed in.
That makes me smile.

*Frank,
Please know that we love and care about you. We always have and always will. My apologies for allowing life to wrap me in a bubble.

Our most sincere condolences and love,
Carolyn and Dan Boyd
