Randy Lee Scheer, 65, of Ashland, died peacefully at his home on Friday, June 9, 2023.
Randy was born in Beardstown on February 4, 1958, to Elmer and Marilyn (Mason) Scheer. He was 1976 graduate of Beardstown High School. He married Karen E. (Moran) Scheer on November 25, 1978, and she preceded him in death on September 20, 2015.
Randy worked at St. John's Hospital in Springfield as Head Grounds Facilitator for almost 30 years before his retirement in 2019.
He is survived by his children; Josh Scheer of Ashland and Kara Scheer of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Leedah and Aurora Scheer of Ashland and Devin and Khloe Scheer of Jacksonville; his brother Rick Scheer of Quincy; two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Bryan R. Scheer and his brother Terry Scheer.
Randy was a wonderful husband to his late wife Karen, showed unconditional love to his children and was a loving Papa to his four grandchildren. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, backgammon, music, and watching funny YouTube videos with his grandchildren. He was also a huge sports fan and loved the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. Spending time with his grandchildren and children was one of his favorite things to do.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Sager Funeral Home with burial to follow at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
