Richard B. Coyne, Sr., 72, a resident of Rutter Road and formerly of Locust Valley, NY, passed away April 3, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Richard was born in Glen Cove, NY on March 25, 1951 the son of the late James and Betty (Schweiger) Coyne. He attended St. Patrick's Roman Catholic School in Glen Cove and graduated from Locust Valley High School. Richard worked at the Mill Neck School for the Deaf, Mill Neck, NY and then for the United States Postal Service in Roslyn, NY. Richard was a member of the Locust Valley Fire Department and the Moose Club in Bennington. He enjoyed base ball and was an avid New York Yankee fan, an avid golfer, listening to classic rock music, travelling quite often to Virginia to be with family and friends and cherished times spent with his family. Richard is survived by his wife Katherine (Kindorf) Coyne of Bennington whom he married in Hempstead, Long Island on March 15, 1980, children James Coyne, Richard B. Coyne, Jr and significant other Jacklyn Shartrand and Bridget Coyne and her significant other Joel Sunderland all of Bennington, siblings Erk Coyne of Oceanside, NY, Heidi Gallant of Locust Valley, NY, Ute Smith (Perry) of Florida and Iris DeVito of Locust Valley, NY and his grandchildren Hailey, James and Joel. Visitation for Richard will be held Friday afternoon April 7, 2023 from 3-5pm at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, VT. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Richard's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, c/o Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 957 Bennington, VT 05201.
