Richard Hatch Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 22, 2023.
Richard Charles Hatch passed away at his home in Hillcrest, NY on March 18, 2023 at the age of 65. Rick was predeceased by his parents Chuck and Shirley Hatch, grandparents Harvey and Ruth Slater, aunt and uncle Doris and Charles Slater and lifelong friends Kathy and Desi. He is survived by his three loving brothers Jeff (Pat), Jim, and Scott (Andrea) Hatch and treasured nieces and nephews Ashley, Jon, Jess, Wendy, Erin, Connor, Victoria and Brittany. Rick had many close friends that meant the world to him, namely Geraldine, Joe, John, Kevin, Rick, Robin, Scott, Walter, Warren, and others too numerous to list. He was a proud graduate of Chenango Valley HS and BCC and assisted in arranging many CV class reunions. Rick worked for many years selling suits at Sears and JCPenney. Additionally, he was a caretaker to many elderly people throughout his life, most notably Bea Niles and Carol Alley who thought of him as a son. His hobbies revolved around many classic TV series such as I love Lucy and Dark Shadows. Rick was very nostalgic, and a great historian, capturing all the special moments from his life on camera. He held tight to all whom he cared about and had many friend groups, including neighbors on Dale Court, high school, college, work, Dark Shadows, and his chosen family of Gay friends. A loss will be felt by many, but a greater gain will be had for having known him, as family and friends were his whole life. Visitation will be held at Wm. R. Chase Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St, Port Dickinson, NY on Tuesday, March 28 from 3:00 to 5:00 immediately followed by a memorial service at 5:00. The family would also like friends to join them for a celebration of Rick's life immediately following the memorial service at 6:00 at My Uncle's Place at 120 E. Service Rd Hillcrest.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.WmRChase.com for the Hatch family.
