Richard Dale Thomas, 71, passed away on June 16, 2024, in Ravia, Oklahoma. He was born on August 14, 1952, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Richard, known for his kind-hearted nature, was a caregiver who shared his garden vegetables with friends and family. He always had a desire to help those around him.
Richard had a fulfilling career with BNSF, dedicating his life to the railroad until his retirement. He also served in the National Guard, embodying the values of service and commitment.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Thomas of Ravia, Oklahoma, his son Shawn Thomas and daughter-in-law Chrissy of Blanchard, Oklahoma, his daughter Sylena "Winky" Kosyan and son-in-law Matt of Oklahoma City, step-daughter Tanya Abrams of Marlow, Oklahoma, step-son Dustin Sipes of Sulphur, Oklahoma, brother Charles Thomas of Tishomingo, and sister Patricia Nunner of Tecumseh. Richard was a cherished grandfather to four grandkids, three step-grandkids, and seven great-grandkids.
Richard was preceded in death by his father Sherman Thomas, mother Ruby Thomas, sister Letha Faye O'Bryan, brother Kenneth Thomas, and brother Gene Allen Thomas.
A graduate of Tishomingo High School in 1971, Richard was a member of the Ravia First Baptist Church where he found solace and community. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cooking for his grandkids.
A memorial service officiated by Reverend Roger Hartwell will be held on Monday June 24th at 10 am at Ravia Baptist Church to honor and celebrate the life of Richard Dale Thomas. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
