The family will receive friends on Saturday January 22nd, 2022 from 11:00am until time of Funeral Service with Military Honors 2:00pm, at the Allen Park Chapel- Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd.
Bob was a First Lieutenant in the US Army Air Corp during World War II. He served as a Bombardier and Navigator and was based in Cerignola, Italy, where he flew twenty- three missions and is a Purple Heart Recipient. He returned home to his wife Lucy and attended law school, setting his path for his future career. He was a founding member of the Worker's Comp defense firm Conklin, Benham where he practiced law until his retirement. During his tenure as a member of the Michigan Bar Association, he served a term as President of the Worker's Compensation Section.
Bob and Lucy provided a wonderful home-life for their family. They loved to travel and were blessed to see most of the United States and several areas abroad. They were exceptionally hospitable and opened their home for meals and games to all their friends and family. Their devotion to God and the church, where Bob served as an Elder and Bible School teacher at the Lincoln Park Church of Christ, were the central focus to their lives.
Bob had many passions, among them was a lifelong love of sports. While younger, he enjoyed bowling, softball, tennis, fishing, and hunting. He was an avid reader, photographer, was a competitive game player, and an early adopter of computers and technology; but his all-time favorite pastime was golf. He was a natural and was often the one to beat at tournaments. He was able to combine this love of golf with travel and work. He was a huge fan of anything Michigan sports.
After retirement Bob and Lucy became Arizona snowbirds. Following her passing, Bob found his second love and married Jackie Brown in 2003. They were together 18 years before he passed. He and Jackie continued their dedication to hospitality, church and family. They were also able to travel to many destinations together. Bob continued Bible School teaching at the Sun Valley church of Christ and was well respected by the leadership there. They were able to unite their two families into one loving unit. He will be missed by all.

We have known and loved Bob as a dear Christian friend.
He inspired us with him steadfast devotion to God's word and the work of the Church. We looked up to him as a shepherd to the Lincoln Park Church and could always depend upon him to help guide us in our Christian walk.
We liked being a students in his class at Church. As a teacher, he was always prepared and knowledgeable in the Scriptures. He will be greatly missed by our family.
