Robert Charles "Bob" Chapek

ROBERT "BOB" CHARLES CHAPEK, age 76, died April 20, 2024, at UH Lake West Medical Center. Born November 9, 1947, in Eau Claire, WI, he has been a lifelong Geauga County resident. He was born to the late Charles and Florence (nee: Harris) Chapek. Bob was a very active member of both Thompson Twp. as Captain and Hambden Twp. Fire Departments. He started his journey with the fire service at the age of 16 as a fire cadet. He served more than 50 years with Thompson Fire Department before his retirement but is semi-retired from Hambden Fire Department. Bob proudly served in the US Army during the Viet Nam War, in Viet Nam. He was a self-employed plumber and electrician for 60 years.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan (nee: Vansant) Chapek of Willowick, son William J. Richardson of San Diago, CA; siblings Nancy Chapek Hawley of Thompsom, Jill Chapek (Larry) Morse of Thompson, Chris Chapek (Mel Sanders) of Geneva; nieces and nephews Emmy, Tami, Jason, Hillary and Cameron; great nieces and nephews Abby, Jesse, Harris, Oliver, Case, Harrison, Charlie, Collin and Carter; he was preceded in death by brothers William and David, niece Kelly and nephew Jeremy.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 3, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon. The service will follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home; burial will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Maple Grove Cemetery, Thompson Twp.
