Obituary
Mr. Robert J. Johnson, age 80, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, August 23 at Our Hospice in Columbus.
Mr. Johnson was born September 12, 1942, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, the son of Robert E. and Ruth L. Whitehead Johnson. He was retired from Milestone Construction and was a United States Navy veteran. Robert was a graduate of Columbus High School, and a member in good standing at the Columbus Moose Lodge and American Legion.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Roberta, brothers: Lawrence, David and Donnie Johnson.
He is survived by his son: Robert and wife, Melissa Johnson, grandsons: Joshua and Jacob Johnson, great-grandchildren: Alexis, Savannah and Everly Johnson, brothers: Charles Johnson, Danny Johnson, Timothy and Thomas Miller.
Robert was known by friends and family as Bobby. He was an avid reader and loved to walk and visit friends at the Columbus Moose Lodge and Columbus American Legion post. Bobby was a person of routine. He walked 3 miles, 7 days a week and would visit friends at the Moose Lodge at 10:30AM where he would read the newspaper over a cup of coffee, then go to the legion for 30 minutes. He would then spend the rest of his day reading at his residence.
Bobby requested that there be no viewing. There will be a graveside service at Garland Brook Cemetery, Thursday, September 14 at 10AM.
The family requests that in his memory, friends and family can make donations to the MooseHeart.org Home for children.
