Robert T. McIntyre, Jr. (AKA "Bob" "Mac" and "Col Mac") was born in Pawtucket, RI on May 24, 1928. The oldest of 7 children, Bob worked delivering bread with his father and at the Pawtucket General Hospital, before leaving home to join the US Army Air Corp (AAC), serving as a Lab Technician. In 1947, as the AAC transitioned to the USAF, he began his rise in the ranks and attended the Officers Candidate School (OCS), at Maxwell, AFB, Montgomery, AL. He completed his BA (University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa), and then MS, in Hospital Administration (University of Alabama, Birmingham). During his 30-year-longcareer, He did a tour at Incirlik Air Base, Adana, Turkey, and later was a member of the 9th Air Force Inspector General (IG) Team based at Sumter AFB, Sumter, SC. He retired as a Lt. Col. while serving as the Executive Officer of the Aerospace Medical Research Labs, at Wright-Patterson AFB,
Dayton, Ohio. He followed that career by working as the Vice-President of Medical Staff at the Arlington Community Hospital, Arlington, VA. After 10 years, he retired and eventually moved to
Tuscaloosa, AL. There he joined the local Englewood Hulls Volunteer Fire Department, attended the Alabama Fire College, and became the oldest Firefighter Instructor on record. He also served as a secretary on the Englewood Hulls Water Board. Bob raised six children and was a caregiver to one of his grandchildren, up until his passing. He enjoyed stained glass work, weaving with yarn and wicker, and was known as a good chef. He passed as he wished, at home, around his loving family.
