Ruben Hernandez Obituary
Ruben Dario Hernandez, age 76, of Clarksville, TN passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Ahava Healthcare surrounded by his family. He was born July 1, 1947 in Mercedes, TX to the late Rafael Hernandez Sr. and Manahen Sanchez Hernandez.
In his spare time, Ruben enjoyed an occasional margarita night with his friends.
Ruben proudly served his country in the United States Army from August 8, 1973 to August 6, 1976. Ruben was a Vietnam Veteran and also served in Korea from March 25, 1974 to March 24, 1975.
Left to cherish his memories are his siblings, Manuel Hernandez and Florence (Alfredo) Talavera, numerous nieces and nephews, many friends, and his girlfriend, Renate Banks. In addition to his parents, Ruben is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Islas; his brother, Rafael Hernandez Jr., and sister, Noemi Narvaez.
Memorial services will be held at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at 11:30 A.M. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Reuben was married to my grandmother. Betty. He always made time for me and my cousins when we would come to their house every other weekend. After my grandmother passed I lost contact with him. I didn´t find out he passed away until my cousin text me and told me two days ago. He was a strong man and could build anything he put his mind to. I have a very fond memory of when I was younger and he would throw me around in the pool. Lol. I will miss him.

Ruben will always be remembered in our lives, as he was one of the special friends of my mother, and a very special group of friends that met every Wednesday or Thursday for dinner. They shared laughter, stories, life experiences, birthdays, and especially a love for one another. His gentle voice, smiling eyes, and usually the quietest at the table- loved him.
