Deacon Scott William Miller, Jr., 80, of Springfield, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on March 6, 2023. He was born in Morgan, Ohio on February 1, 1943, a son of Scott William Miller, Sr. and Jennie (Miller) Miller.
He graduated from Gallia County High School and received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army. Scott retired from General Motors after 31 years of service. Scott was a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where he loved serving as a Deacon. He also served in other ministries within the church: Drama Ministry, Church School Teacher, Cristian Men's Fellowship, Wednesday Bible Study, Men Vessels of Praise, and was a facilitator in church-wide small groups. Scott was also involved in the Ohio Road Runners.
Scott was a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Mary (Kendall) Miller, of Springfield, OH; daughter, Jane Tansey, of Springfield, OH; grandchildren: William S. Borden, Andrew R. Miller, Ariez S. Miller, and Gian McCall; five great-grandchildren, all of Springfield, OH; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special friend, Chris Nuss.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Hillary Radford; sisters: Marjorie Borden, and Dorothy Rippey.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial service at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 in St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 34 West Pleasant Street, Springfield, Ohio 45506. Please enter on the Mulberry Street side.
