Stephen J. Donahue, 77, of Clifton died Sunday, August 13, 2023. Born in the Bronx, NY, he resided in Nutley for 42 years before moving to Clifton 2 years ago. Steve was employed as an Assistant Vice President for First Union Bank in Newark. He served in the US Army from 1966-1968, during the Vietnam War. Steve was a parishioner of St. Andrew RC Church in Clifton.
Steve was a voracious reader, especially the New York Times, with a dry sense of humor. While home, he enjoyed cooking and taking care of home improvements. Steve loved to travel and take cruises with his wife, Ann. Every summer, Steve would travel to his "Happy Place," Cape Breton, Nova Scotia to spend time at his summer cabin and visit with his extended family. Above all, Steve loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, watching them play their favorite sports or perform on stage. Steve was loved by all of his family, including his sister in laws, brother in laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. His big personality will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Ann Cawley, by a daughter, Janis Ferraro and husband, Michael of Cedar Grove, by two sons; Kevin Donahue and wife, Emily of Nutley and Joseph Donahue and wife, Suntita of Frederick, MD and by five grandchildren; Anthony, Mia, Luke, Molly and Abigail. Steve is predeceased by two brothers; John F. and Joseph J. Donahue.
A Memorial Mass will be held 10AM Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at St. Andrew RC Church, 400 Mt. Prospect Ave., Clifton, NJ 07012.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Steve's favorite charity, Covenant House (https://www.covenanthouse.org/donation-options/donate-now) or a charity of your choosing.
