Stephen William Shultz, age 75, died in his home in Aurora, Colorado, on May 26, 2024. Steve was born in Atchison, Kansas, in 1949, to William and Rosemary Shultz (Nass). Steve spent the majority of his life in Colorado where he met and married Nancy Thornton. Wed in 1970, Steve and Nancy celebrated their 54th anniversary earlier this year.
Although he graduated from high school in Wichita, Kansas, Steve’s true alma mater was Thomas Jefferson High School in Denver. He made many life-long friends at Thomas Jefferson, and he rushed back to Colorado the day after graduating. Steve worked for Pepsi Cola for more than 25 years, and was a medical supplies salesman before retiring.
Steve enjoyed his canine companions, cars, riding motorcycles, fishing, the mountains, music, food, and – foremost – his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Carrie Ann Nortillo (husband, Tom); son, Stephen Paul Shultz (wife, Melinda); and four grandchildren: Gianna Nortillo, Emerson Nortillo, Prahlad Shultz, and Daisy Shultz. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 am June 11 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 2200 S. Harrison St. in Denver. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve’s memory can be made to any animal shelter of choice.
