Alicia Shanel Compos, a beloved daughter, friend, and shining light in the lives of many, departed this world on May 19, 2025, in Aurora, Colorado. Born on July 19, 1987, in Denver, Alicia filled her years with kindness, strength, and an unwavering love for her family and friends.
Alicia was a remarkable individual, known for her biggest heart and genuine spirit. She was a lover, not a fighter, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, even when she herself faced challenges. Her determination and stubbornness never overshadowed her innate softness; she had the rare gift of balancing strength with compassion.
As a proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Alicia took great pride in her accomplishments, particularly earning her CNA certification, which exemplified her dedication to caring for others. Her passion for life was also reflected in her love for family camping trips, where laughter and stories were shared under the stars, creating memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her.
Alicia was not just defined by her nurturing nature but also by her vibrant interests. She was an avid supporter of the Colorado Avalanche, her enthusiasm infectious and unwavering. A culinary star in her own right, she was celebrated for her enchiladas as well as other delicious Mexican dishes, and the famed “Alicia and LaShae Special.” Friends and family will forever cherish the gatherings that revolved around her table, where food wasn’t just sustenance but a focal point of love and connection.
Her love for reading and board games brought joy not only to her but also to those fortunate enough to share in these experiences. Each game played and every story read created bonds and cherished moments that will linger long after her departure.
Alicia is preceded in death by her mother, Jacklyn Grace Compos; her grandmothers, Esther Ortega, Manulita E. Petechuk and grandfather, Louis Camacho; her aunts and uncles; Raymond Gomez, Carl Camacho, Mike Camacho, Robert Hernandez, Lawrence Ornales, Bobbie Hernandez, Gloria Bowman and Ramona Garcia; and godparents, (Nino) Louie Camacho and (Nina) Shelia Hurtado.
She leaves behind her father, Ernest Compos; her sisters, Salena and LaShae Compos; grandmother, Roberta (Jay) Camacho; her uncles, Vincent Compos and Marcos Ortega; and aunts Melissa Santistevan, Jean Santistevan, Kimi Camacho and Lori Camacho; nieces and nephews, Areyana, Raymond, Joseph Chavez Adrian Compos Junior and Lyliana Aguirre; as well as many more aunts, uncles and cousins and friends.
Alicia’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness, genuine love, and spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, serving as a reminder of the profound impact one compassionate person can have on the world. As we remember Alicia, let us carry forward her spirit of giving, her love for life, and her commitment to those around her.
