Sylvia Lopez, 73, of Hurley, NM, passed away peacefully June 18, 2023, in Albuquerque, NM at her daughter's home.
She was born October 20, 1949, in Santa Rita, NM. She was a graduate at Cobre High School in Bayard, NM. She was known for her kindness and compassion to everyone in her life. Sylvia and her husband, Jimmy, had a house that everyone knew they were always welcome, and they made people feel at home. Anyone could stop by all times of the day to enjoy a cup of coffee, good food, hot chile, and a shot of tequila.
Sylvia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter Audrey Chavez, and son-in-law Alfred Chavez, her son Raymond Lopez, and daughter-in-law Charlene Merino, her daughter Christy Lopez, and son-in-law Jesse Dominguez, and her son-in-law Floyd Hayes; her grandchildren, Janice Hayes, Joshua Alirez and his wife Jasmine Alirez, Kasandra Duran and her husband Luis Duran, Omar Lopez and his wife Angelica Raymond-Lopez, Bianca Sanchez and her husband Demetrio Sanchez, Karisa Tellez and her husband Tristan Tellez, Carlos Lopez and his wife Delicia Lopez, Asiah Lopez, and John Gunter, Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Jevry, Julian, Exander, Kai, Kharter, Tru, and Mila; and her two brothers. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Santiago Lopez, her son Jimmito Lopez, her sister Christina Marrufo, and her parents, Reynaldo Marrufo and Josephine Marrufo.
