Teresa Barros Obituary

Teresa L. Barros
11-3-1927 - 11-1-2023 Went to be with the Lord... peacefully in her sleep.
Born 11-3-1927 to her parents:
Mother Maria Teresa Castellanos Altamirano and Father Humberto Longega Puente
She had a great childhood, growing up with 3 sisters and then a brother who came 15 years after the youngest sister.
She is survived by her six children: Richard J. Barros (Cindy), Lorretta Simpson (Tori), Alexander Barros, John Barros, Dave Barros (Kellie), and Isaac Barros; grandchildren: Chanel Simpson (Jeff Marks), Alexa Simpson, Ari Simpson and Kasey Barros; step-grandchildren, Nadja and Ryan; great-grandchildren: Marlow, Murphy, Adri, Oakley and Kash; Brother-Humberto Longega (Ingrid), four sisters-in-law and many more loved ones in Mexico and the United States.
She attended an all-girls Catholic School in Mexico City.
She became an English/Spanish secretary and loved Mexico City, working and eating fine chocolates, and going to the beautiful park Chapultepec, which also had many fine dining to choose from in the area.
One day while walking in the park on way home from work, a young man walked up to her and she quickly told him, "I don't talk to strangers". So, he introduced himself to her and continued on, telling her, "See, now we're not strangers!" Little did she know her life was about to change.
She married Richard O. Barros 6 months after. Soon Richard J. Barros was born and then came Alexander Barros. In 1960 they moved the family to the U.S. The family lived in Arizona.
where Lorretta Barros Simpson was born. She was so happy to have a baby girl! That same year her mom passed. A few years later, twins, Jon & Dave were born. Last Isaac came along after moving to California. Living in California at the time, both Richard and Teresa were working as missionaries for the Lutheran Church. Richard also worked building RVs.
Husband, Richard Barros and always adventuring mom, supported him and all of us 6 kids-wherever we went in our RV, mom always took great care of us all! Both studied and became proud U.S. Citizens.
They owned El Charro Drive-In Prescott 1970 and ran it together for several years. Later they dedicated themselves to missions and family.
Teresa loved family; it was her life. She dedicated her life to her children and family and would make several trips home to Mexico. Teresa loved the Lord, and she taught by example.
So much love for her family- each one would be in her prayers. A true prayer warrior.
She would always say "Enjoy your children while you have them!" because that is what she did!
She also loved dark chocolate, Pink Moscato and playing Rummikub-which she played up till recently.
Always grateful!
She will be missed and loved forever. Forever our Angel! Her best gift to all of us, taught by example, to know and love God #1
