William "Bill" Jackson Greene, a cherished father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 81. Born on May 28, 1943, in McDowell County, North Carolina, Bill lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and quiet strength.
After graduating high school, Bill proudly served his country by joining the United States Air Force. He spent four years as an aircraft mechanic, a period during which he was known for his soft-spoken demeanor, compassion, and unwavering commitment to his duties.
Following his honorable service, Bill embarked on a career in the cable television industry, where he played a pivotal role in building many of the cable systems throughout North Carolina, leaving as a district president with a legacy of innovation and excellence in the field.
Bill had a deep love for horses, cars, construction, and history. As a devoted member of the Quarter Horses Association, he found joy and camaraderie among those who shared his passion. In retirement, Bill and his beloved wife, Glenda Faye Greene, whom he cherished for 52 wonderful years, built a farm in St. Helena. This farm, with its sheep, horses, miniature horses, and pigs, became their sanctuary and playground, embodying their shared dreams and hard work.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Jack and Maude Greene, and his dear wife, Glenda. Bill leaves behind his devoted daughter, Devery Greene Corp, and his caring brother, Michael Greene, along with a host of friends and community members who were touched by his gentle spirit.
Though no services are planned at this time, those who knew Bill will forever remember his quiet strength and the enduring impact he made on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he influenced throughout his remarkable journey.
May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with those he loved and remembered by those who love him still.
