William K. Haney

William K. Haney, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his friends and family at Good Samaritan Hospice in Brighton Township on August 26, 2023. Bill was the son of the late William F. and Mary Haney, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife Alice Joyce of 55 years, his brother Gerald Haney, brothers-in-law Charles Brockmiller and Willard Snowberger, sister-in-law Eleanor Kimbrell, daughter Susan DiSilvestro, and son-in-law D. Dal Watterson.

Bill was born in Freedom, PA on June 26, 1931. He attended St. Mary Catholic School and then Beaver Falls High School. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1948 and received a commendation for his bravery in Guam when he put out the fire on a B-29 that had crashed with live bombs. After honorable discharge from the Air Force, he married the love of his life Alice Joyce Brockmiller on April 11, 1953.

In the 60s he purchased Brownies Inn (now known as the Front Door Tavern) in South Beaver, PA, and was the owner for 10 years. Bill spent the bulk of his career employed by B&W Special Metals and retired after many years of service at the age of 62. In retirement, Bill and Joyce split their time between The Villages, FL, and Crawford's Campground in South Beaver and, ultimately, relocating to Chippewa in 2005.

Bill is survived by his daughters Kristen (Rudy) Massa of Franklin Park, PA and Jayne Watterson of Chippewa, PA, son-in-law Anthony DiSilvestro of Coral Springs, FL, sister Betty Snowberger, grandchildren Necia Irwin, Christine DiSilvestro, Jason (Garima) Massa, Nina (Donald) Matz, Julia (Kameron Lyew) Watterson, Emily Watterson, Molly (Josh) Watterson, Gennifer (Haley Wills) Dusold, David Watterson, Maura Watterson, and great-grandchildren Jack, Caprice, Aviram, and Loren. He will be missed by many, including his morning gang at the Chippewa McDonalds and the staff and his friends at the Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe in Chippewa.

Family and friends will gather at Campbell's Chippewa Funeral Home, Inc., 2618 Darlington Road, Chippewa, PA 15010 (Randy R. Wheeler, supervisor, 724-843-2500) on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 2:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. A eulogy will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. There will be a military service with honors for Mr. Haney at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with his immediate family.
