William F. "Bill" "Poppy" Lancaster, III, 69, of Charles Town, WV passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024 at Winchester Medical Center.
Bill was born March 9, 1954 in Winchester, VA. He was the son of the late William F. "Bill" Lancaster, Jr. and Betty Belle Henry Lancaster.
He worked for 30 years with Dixie-Narco and Royal Vendors as Purchasing Manager and retired from Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races.
He graduated from Charles Town High School (Class of 1972) and received his Bachelor's degree from Shepherd College.
As a young man, he was a member of the Citizens Fire Department. He loved golfing, hunting, and shooting skeet and trap. He was a longtime member of the Jefferson County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League.
He is survived by his wife, Arletta Lancaster; daughters, Missy Lancaster (Seth Deysach), of Milwaukee, WI, Amy Lancaster (fiancé Lauren Hartman), Morgantown, WV; grandchildren, Juniper Lancaster Deysach, Milo Lancaster Deysach; sister, Shari Jordan (Bill), of Charles Town, WV; nephew, Travis Jordan (partner Hallynd Zahn); and niece Lauren Ballinger (Sterling).
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024 at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Ranson, WV with Dr. Henry Christie officiating.
Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town, WV.
Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Citizens Fire Company, 245 Citizens Way, Charles Town, WV 25414 or to a local fire department of your choice.
