William Messner Obituary

William proudly served in the Military for 22 years, 13 years in the US Marine Corps., and 9 years in the National Guard. He was a Gunnery Sargent and retired as 3rd Battalion in the 3rd Recon Division and a Vietnam Veteran and was awarded a Purple Heart. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved to camp, hunt and fish.
There will be a Viewing from 6pm-8pm Friday January 26, and from 10am to 11am on Saturday, January 27 at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Funeral Service to follow at the funeral home. Interment will be at New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr.

It has been almost 50 years since we met Bill while serving in the Marine Corps in Washington D.C. He most of all a friend, co-worker, neighbor and a great Marine. He was serious, dedicated to his family and the Corps., fun and a prankster. Bill was a fellow computer programmer at Headquarters Marine Corps - Henderson Hall in Arlington VA. We also worked together at DART Drug in our off time. If there was a good joke, Bill knew it and if there was a good prank, Bill would play it. He was a great guy and even though our life contact was only a Christmas card we can't help but remember Bill when we think of our life in the Marines. Rest in Peace, God Bless and "Semper Fidelis"
