Gastonia – William Derek Teague, 52, went home to be his Lord and Savior after a hard battle with cancer on December 5, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Gaston County on July 17, 1970 to William Junior Teague and Paulette Renn Owens. He is preceded in death by his grandparents; uncle, Tommy Hendrix; and his aunt, Elizabeth Bishop.

William was an indescribably big Steelers fan and was a fan his whole life since he was a boy. He enjoyed doing yard work and keeping up his home. William was a very strong and independent man that loved his family and his dogs. Every night before he went to bed, he would read his bible faithfully. He leaves many happy memories that will be cherished by his family.

In addition to his parents and step-mother, Cheryl Teague, William is survived by his wife of 29 years, Nancy Johnson Teague; his sons, Glenn Katen (Brandy), Jon Katen, Nathan Katen (Rebekah), and David Cooper; daughters, Beth Teague and Ashleigh Teague; brothers, Brian Teague and Greg Rey; sisters, Laura Nailor, Shannon Staley, and Tashya Machek; grandchildren, James, Luna, Rose, Athena, George, Fred, and Daisy; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday December 12, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Garver Memorial (Northside) Baptist Church 1920 Modena Street Gastonia, North Carolina 28054 with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia.
