Joseph Slusser Obituary
Joe led a life most people only dream of living. As a young child, Joe had a fascination with the outdoors and wildlife that evolved into hiking, hunting and adventure. Joe graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Detroit College of Law. After declining a position at the very prestigious law firm, Joe packed up his old Chevy Impala and drove to Alaska to accept his first job with a law firm in Fairbanks. Joe subsequently served as a magistrate in Delta Junction and as a district attorney in Barrow, Kodiak and Bethel. Joe was respected and admired by all who knew him. His giving and hard working spirit touched many lives. Joe had a quick wit and keen sense of humor to those who knew him well.
We thank all of our friends and family who have supported us through this very difficult time. A Mass will be held on March 18, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Peger Road, Fairbanks, AK. A viewing will also be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Peger Road, Fairbanks, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sacred Heart Cathedral in Joe's name.

Joe was a very good friend who was an incredible family man. I have never met anyone who loved his family more than Joe. When he lived in Kodiak we would go to breakfast most Saturdays and spend the morning shooting at the range. Those were great times. He was one of the few people that I met in my life that I trusted. I could count on Joe for anything. I wish Evelyn, Francis & Joey peace & sincere condolences during this incredibly trying time.

I met Joe his first day in Fairbanks. One of the joys of my life was working with him and sharing his adventures. The world has lost one of the good guys.

I worked "across the aisle" from Joe on many cases he and I shared. A gentleman with a sense of humor who listened and responded fairly. I miss our long conversations. Wish him well on his next journey.
