Gertrude Catherine "Trudy" Robischon

Gertrude Robischon Obituary

Gertrude "Trudy" Catherine ROBISCHON Born February 5th, 1922, in Kalispell Montana. Died April 12, 2005, in Seattle Washington. As a young woman, Trudy asserted her independence by leaving Montana for a new life in Seattle. Here she met and married John "Jack" Anderson, and they raised six children in Rainier Beach. At length, Gertrude divorced, built a career with the state and later retired to read, explore the NW and be with her grandchildren. An early feminist, Trudy was steadfastly independent, responsible, and self-reliant, and she taught her children to be the same. An expert in the domestic arts of sewing and knitting, a lifetime pianist with taste for the arts, she was both astute and irreverent, sincere and good humored, well read and curious. Children and books were Trudy's joy. She was a tireless reader, and we were a family of regulars at the Columbia City branch of the Seattle Public Library. Trudy was also a long-time volunteer reading tutor for elementary students. Preceded in death by her third daughter, Nancy Miller, in 1994. Trudy leaves behind Nancy's daughter, Alison Miller. Trudy also leaves her children Jeanne Marie Johnson (Dick), Mark J. Anderson (Tamara) and her grandson Timothy; Mary Christine Anderson and granddaughters, Katie and Elisabeth; David Alan Anderson (Cynthia) and grandsons, Aaron and Nick; and youngest daughter, Martha Ellen Anderson.
