Frank Mai Obituary

Retired HVAC teacher, family man, longtime Clark resident Frank R. Mai, 89, of Clark, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 25, 2021. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation on Monday, November 1 from 4 - 8 pm at Walter Johnson Funeral Home, Clark. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 6 at 11:00 am at Osceola Presbyterian Church, Clark. To offer condolences, please visit www.walterjohnsonfh.com Frank was born in Alexandria Township, NJ to Philip and Margaret (Gallagher) Mai. He proudly served his country as a Trumpet player in the 18th Army Band. He lived in Linden, prior to moving to Clark 62 years ago. Frank worked in the HVAC trade for 25 years. He then became an HVAC Teacher at Union County Vocational-Technical School in Scotch Plains for 20 years, retiring in 1994. He was an active member of Osceola Church in Clark and a Past President and Vice President of the Clark AARP Chapter. Frank was the beloved husband for 65 years of Anita (Thane) Mai; the devoted father of Linda Mai, Brian Mai and his wife Lynn and the late Mark Mai; the cherished grandfather of Kathleen Mai and William Mai; the dear brother of Catherine Sweitzer and Victoria Stavick and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by 7 sisters and 4 brothers: Florence Schink, Margaret Kato, Susan McQueeney, Elizabeth Baumle, Grace Rimkus, Mary Johanesen, Pauline Mai, William Mai, Gustav Mai, John Mai and Philip Mai.
