Audrey Byers Obituary

Audrey Byers, of Flowery Branch, formerly of Gwinnett County, passed away July 13, 2025. Audrey was born August 2, 1944 in Atlanta, Georgia, and was the baby sister of five girls. As an adult, she lived in Tucker for many years when her children, Mark and Kim, were young, and then in Lilburn where her kids grew up. Audrey lived in Gwinnett county most of her adult life until retiring to Flowery Branch to live with Kim and Tim. Audrey is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Tim Hall, Flowery Branch; grandson, Austin Hall, WVA; Great grand-daughter A'lonna Gaspard, Slidell, LA; sisters, Juanita Mulligan, Loganville, and Nancy Clower (Jimmy), Monroe. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews and spouses, Brad Clower (Charlene) Pelham ,GA; Kevin Grant (Donna), Cleveland, GA; Cathy Britt (Kevin), Dacula, GA; Julie Mulligan. Loganville, GA. Audrey is preceded in death by her son, Mark Hudson, husband John Byers, mother, Mildred Standhardt, sister, Shirley Boles, sister, Sharon Teem, and niece, Dana Boles White. Audrey first and foremost was a child of the Most High God and she could tell you in a minute why you needed to be too! She used her creativity and organizational talent volunteering over the years, including Parkview High School, Rehoboth Baptist Church, Snellville First Baptist Church (kna - Church on Main), The Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief Teams, as well as many local, state and national political candidates. When Mark and Kim were growing up, Marvin and Audrey had an open door policy for their friends to come over and most importantly Audrey always kept the refrigerator stocked for Mark and his friends. Meanwhile, Kim and her friends would raid Audrey's closet and jewelry cabinet to dress up and use her clothes when she was not looking because she always had very fashionable clothes and accessories. When Audrey and John were married, they set off on world adventures traveling to many countries, meeting new friends around the world and always coming home with a story, or two, to tell. They loved traveling together, enjoying new journeys and experiencing new cultures (and new food). Audrey and John loved being together, and cherished their time with their large extended families in Habersham and Gwinnett. When Audrey "retired" from real estate/construction business, she focused on where God would use her the most to bring help and happiness to others through Him. She decided with her background in real estate and construction business, to help in disaster relief, so she signed up with the Georgia Baptist Mission to be on a US traveling team to go wherever needed. After Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana, she spent over a year traveling to Bay St. Louis in Louisiana. to help rebuild the homes and churches there. She had a gift of organization and helping where needed, and served to feed one thousand people per day, three meals a day. Audrey also traveled to Thailand after the tsunami, with her disaster team for more than a month, showing the love of Jesus to people she could not speak with, but relished in her role to love and care for them the best she could. During her final mission trip about six years ago in Houston, TX after a flood, she served to "mud out" homes. Audrey and her mission team friends were a blessing to thousands. She often shared scripture on note paper with her grandson, Austin, and advised him to "put it in your shoes" so that you are standing on the foundation of God and what He wants for your life. She was so good at knowing her Bible and giving others a shoulder and scripture to cling to in a time of need. In this circumstance, we relish in IS 43:2 (MSG), "Don't be afraid, I've redeemed you. I've called your name. You are mine. When you're in over your head, I'll be there with you. When you're in rough waters, you will not go down. When you're between a rock and a hard place, it won't be a dead end- Because I am GOD, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. Visitation with the family was held on Thursday, July 17 from 1-3pm and 5-8pm at Bill Head Funeral Home, Tucker Chapel. Funeral Service was held on Saturday, July 19, at 11am at Bill Head Funeral Home, Tucker Chapel. Private burial was immediately following the funeral at Floral Hills Cemetery, Tucker GA.
