I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. June and his wife Virginia in a restaurant in Salt Lake City about 3-4 years ago. Mrs. June told me the whole story and gave me two cards, one with his current picture, and one with his picture when he was in the Marines. I spoke to Virginia at length and she gave me additional information about their lives, part of which included Colorado where I'm from. I wasn't quite sure whether or not to believe what she was telling me about Mr. June. I knew the story but was amazed that I would meet someone of such great stature. The next day, my rep and I were traveling north and passed Hill AFB. We decided to stop in and go through the air museum and in one corner was a complete history of the Navajo Code Talkers and there, to my surprise was Sgt. Allen June's name. I still have both cards and would like to thank Mr. June for his service and sacrifice to our great nation. Rest in peace hero.
