My mother and I saw Terry win his gold medal in Innsbruck in the 1964 Winter Olympics! We were able to personally congratulate him afterwards, too. He was very humble and pleasant to us. I've thought about that event many times through the years and am saddened by the news of his death. He was a lovely man. It was just a brief encounter but so memorable to us.

I remember his gold medal in 1964, the only gold won by an American in that Winter Olympics. A true sportsman. May he Rest In Peace.
