Mr. Weicker was my neighbor in downtown Mystic when he was elected governor of Connecticut. I remember looking out my kitchen window and seeing him on the morning of his election beside his campaign bus. He looked larger than life. Thank you for your service to the State of Connecticut and to our amazing country! You lead a life of extraordinary service and I am thankful for all you have done and for the examples you set. Thank you for a like well lived!

Tuddy and I extend our deepest sympathy to the entire Weicker family. I met him over 50 years ago when picking up he and his family from St. Barts and taking them to Puerto Rico. St. Croix eventually became his vacation winter destination as he loved the sand and sea. Our friendship grew over the years with him inviting us to many exciting adventures in Washington including Reagan's second inauguration.
After Hurricane Hugo he helped us secure a SBA loan so we could rebuild our facilities in St. Croix which had pretty much been destroyed.
Lowell was a strong-willed person who never minced words. You always knew exactly where he stood.
He will be missed by all who knew and respected him.
May he rest in peace.

I am very grateful to Senator Weicker and his staff when he was a Senator in the 80's .They helped me know about my aunt in Cuba when we lost contact with her. Thanks to their help she left Cuba to Spain to be with her family. Thank you senator Weicker and rest in peace!

I remember the crowds in front of the state capitol protesting -
he was a good man and i supported him -even i was to young to vote

Lowell was a very close friend of my fathers; Jack Taintor, who he encouraged to run for first selectmen after he held the position. My dad did become first Selectman and they became close friends until my dad died in 1979. I worked tirelessly on Lowell´s campaign for Governor of CT and supported him in all of his endeavors. He was truly a special man who stayed true to his beliefs. I wish I had learned about the services earlier so I could have attended. Alison Taintor Fisher. Currently living in Virginia.

Senator Weicker was a champion of ocean research and took a hands on interest in underwater habitat operations. He was a participant in more than one actual saturation habitat diving experience and was a visitor to NOAA's Helgoland international cold water habitat herring study of 1975 off the Massachusetts coast. A political giant of his day and a life and career of giving to
country, state and people. My condolences to the family and may you take pride in your dad and grandad's many contributions to our Nation.

My father met Lowell in Virginia in 1955 and remained friends throughout the years. Lowell had a special place in our family, and he will be greatly missed. My condolences to Claudia and his family.

I grew up in small town Kansas and remember first hearing about Mr. Weicker from my mother, an FDR Democrat, during the Watergate hearings. She remarked on how much she liked this liberal Republican. In this, my 60th summer, I have finally found the Watergate hearings on AAPT and have fallen in love with him myself. I bought his book and have been trying to learn all I can about him. I had actually bought a blank card the Friday before his death so I could write to tell him of my admiration, but got busy and didn´t get around to writing. I regret that so much. He was a giant of a human being, and the world is the worse for his loss. I send my deepest condolences to his family and friends.

One afternoon (while employed by Howard Baldwin of the Whalers) a large gentlemen stood in front of my desk and told me he had a meeting with Howdy (his nickname for Howard). As I stood and kept lifting my head to see a very tall stature of man in a tennis sweater, along with a genuinely warm smile I realized it was Lowell Weicker who had come to play tennis with his friend. I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Weicker from seeing him patronize Apricots Restaurant every Tuesday for his favorite MEATLOAF DINNER. A few years later, I had the pleasure of being introduced to Claudias and their infant son Scot aboard their sailboat moored at their condo in Stonington where again we frequented the same restaurant. Our former Governor was a humble man who remembered people that were not affiliated with politics, but all people. My sincerest condolences to those that will grieve the loss of a "great guy".
