Dave was my roommate at Notre Dame. He had a brilliant mind. And a very dry sense of humor. He was fair and honest. He loved his years at the New York Times. Writing was in his blood. He loved his wife Rita. She brought much happiness to his life. He blazed a trail without a mentor in his career.
I was blessed to call him a friend.
Our prayers go out to Rita and his immediate family.

Dave was my step-dad for about 20 years . He was kind, generous, smart, funny and patient. I'm glad I got the chance to thank him for being a good guy.

I am so sorry for the loss of David. He was a good neighbor for 17 years until I moved away and was always quick with a chat about mutual experiences and current events and whatnot! I looked forward to meeting up with him at neighborhood events. He will be missed.

David and I attended McDowell High School together. Funny, very bright and a shining success in his field. His sister, Susan Stout Robinson remains my dear friend all these years later. My sincere sympathy to all of David's family.

Much love, Karen Craig Nekervis
