I got to meet Mr Scott at one of SMHS summer gatherings in George's back yard. What an interesting kind man he was and the enjoyment he had with being a part of our crazy madness. He could talk about anything and was so funny with his antics in storytelling. A wonderful proud legacy he leaves to his family. Our SMHS classmates will all miss him. Prayers of comfort and peace to George and the entire family. A new star in heaven will forever shine brightly.

I am a lawyer from Little Rock, Arkansas. Two or three years ago, I travelled with my wife to attend a high-school reunion George Scott, Jr., was hosting at his home. George Scott, Sr. (Mr. Scott) lived in a separate area of the same home. When I met him, I became so fascinated with his extraordinary intellect that I spent the evening in his living area listening to the wisdom which flowed so freely from just his observations and comments. Among so many other fascinating subjects, we discussed how he had taught Ted Williams to fly an airplane -- and how Mr. Scott then pursued and achieved "the American Dream." I was honored to have had that time with a great man.

George was the most genuinely nice man I have ever known. Like him, my father graduated from Virginia, loved tennis, and played often with him at Olde Providence. I will always cherish our friendship. Wah-Hoo-Wah, George!
