Donald Elwin Monat, 86, of Floral City, Florida, passed away on June 26, 2025 at Diamond Ridge Health and Rehab in Lecanto. Donald was born on July 23, 1938, to the late Earl and Bertha Monat in Springfield, MA.
Donald served in the Army Reserves. He was a Heating Engineer and Manufacturer's Representative for an HVAC company. He taught HVAC and was an Assistant Principal at Technical Careers Institute in Connecticut. He was a Scoutmaster for several years in Massachusetts and in Connecticut. He married his wife Eleanor in 1958. They were fulltime RV'ers for 25 years, and lifetime members of Escapees RV Club. Donald was an accomplished Banjo player and played in several Banjo Bands in Florida and the Northeast. They were President Couple of Marriage Encounter in the state of Connecticut for several years. He was an commissioned Lay Minister and Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas in Goshen, CT.
Donald is survived by his wife, Eleanor Monat of Floral City, FL; Three sons: Daniel Alan Monat (Elena) of Maryville, TN; Darryl Monat (Nancy) of Bantam, CT; David Earl Monat of Winsted, CT; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at 11:00AM, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, in Inverness, FL. In Lieu of Flowers the family requests that Memorial Donations may be made to Our Lady of Fatima in Inverness for Masses, or the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch. The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family.

It was nice to see Both of you at Tony and Penny's a few years back. The time we spent together was so heart warming talking of family moments. We will do that again one day off in the beautiful heavenly realm. Love you both.
