To the Kauth Family- I had Don Kauth my freshman year at Siena College. No teacher had greater impact on my success and career path than Don Kauth. I can still visualize him telling us the smart thing to do was major in computer science with a business minor. His words had such a tremendous impact on me, that I changed my Accounting major to Computer Science.. It was not easy, since I was “playing catch-up”, starting Computer Science as a sophomore. But I graduated with my class, and moved on to have a very successful career as Managing Director of JPMorganChase Audit Technology, worldwide. I can only imagine how many others he helped guide, to find what they were passionate about, and the success that would ultimately follow. I will never forget him. Wish I could tell him - Thank you

Don Kauth is a lasting memory and will always be in my thoughts. I remember driving to work in the mornings and seeing Don running, he always looked like he had pushed his limits but he never gave up. Don was a good man and always a kind word, I fondly remember our conversations at the hockey rinks. I know that his legacy lives because I have met his children.

On this tenth anniversary of 9/11 I want to honor the life of Don Kauth, who I knew many years ago when he was a graduate student, and later as a faculty colleague and friend at Union College. I have known few people as full of life and joy and hard work as Don, and few colleagues more enjoyable to know. To his family, friends, and loved ones I would like you to know he is still remembered with great fondness by many people you may never meet, whose lives were brightened by Don’s life and friendship. On this memorial, may God bless you and keep you, may He make his face shine upon you, and grant you His peace.

I was the Controller at a small savings bank many years ago and had occasion to talk with Don frequently as earnings releases were being prepared. Besides his obvious intelligence and work ethic, he had a very warm and endearing quality which, as many will attest, you do not find from most in his profession. He will be missed.

Don had a positive influence on my life. We worked together at my first job at Mungers (Howlands) selling shoes. He taught me what it meant to hustle and apply yourself 100% to whatever you do,

It was a pleasure to see Don’s lovely daughter represent the US in the Torino Olympics as a medal winning ice hockey player. The fist time I ever met Don, he broke out a picture of Katie in her hockey equipment. I suspect he would have worn her picture on a button if he didn’t work on Wall Street. He was so enthusiastic and proud of his kids. I’m thrilled to see his dreams for Katie realized and am likewise happy that his children are thriving.

Dear Dr. Brian Kauth - No words can express how sorry we are for your loss of your dear brother & for all the rest of the people who died on 9-11. I just want you & your family to know that your brother & all the rest will never be forgotten nor how they died so senselessly. We hold you & your's in our daily prayers, yesterday - today - and for all of our tomorrows. To you & all of your family & friends - never forget JOHN 11:25 -and- JOHN 14:1-4 Don is surely in his special room that GOD & JESUS prepared for him. And until you meet again - may GOD hold you & your's in HIS hands and close to HIS heart. In Jesus' name - Amen.

To the family of Donnie Kauth:
I remember him well as a fellow baseball player dating back to our childhood at Wankel field in South Utica many years ago. He was a great teammate, and I'm sure, a great person as well. May he rest in peace and may God comfort him and comfort your family. I will think of him often.

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand

To Don's Mother and Children,
I was involved in Don's decision to attend Union and then later to teach Accounting. He was the best student and colleague I have ever had.
I also laughed a lot with Don and drank a few beers. Although I had not seen him in over 20 years, I remember him with great fondness and longing.
I want you all to know how special I and others at Union though Don was.
Best wishes on this anniversary,
Joe Maciariello

Don....
You and I knew each other from my first day at Peat Marwick Mitchell in 1978. We worked together, but you had far too much spirit to ever stay in public accounting! So when I went into investment banking in 1985, you were the first guy I called to convince that you needed to join me! Think about you often. You taught me to never take myself too seriously, which is a very important lesson, when working around people who think they are quite important and take themselves too seriously.

We are very sorry for your loss of Don. May his life and love live on in those who love him. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Oh, what a time it was, it was!
I miss the endless talks about our SUPER kids - (bragging rights ALWAYS allowed - and encouraged - in this company!), barbecues, (GREAT mashed potatoes!), sitting around watching Yankees games, (and who could come up with the most "old Yankees" trivia - I KNOW you memorized that Micky Mantle biography!), cheering for the Flyers, (many times in vain...), soggy lasagne, (which wasn't worth the rush home!), daily e-mails, outrageous jokes - (MANY groaners...), Thursday nights, Bailey's, Joe's and that fateful encounter, hearing you say, "at any rate," your easy smile, your CONTAGEOUS laugh, your stories - (some TALL tales, I suspect!!!), popcorn and Sam Adams, An American Beauty, braving snow storms - (You gotta' be kidding!), bicycle pumps, Irish locksmiths, "Holy smokin' jackets," and of course, "Winston!"
The world is a little less bright without you in it. You lived life to the fullest - and did a GREAT job while you were here. Your wonderful kids are a true testament to that!
May you have eternal peace and happiness as the warm winds of heaven blow gently upon your soul.
Rest in peace, Irish.
I miss you........
Linda
