Mike P. Madigan Naples, FL
Mike P. Madigan, of Naples, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the age of 72. Born on August 19, 1936 in Garretson, SD, he grew up in Northville, MI and lived in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Indiana prior to moving to Naples in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ellie; two children, Kara and Michael; his mother, Mildred; and five grandchildren, JP, Gates, Ane, Skyler and Mckenna.
He served his country as an Air Force fighter pilot in F84 and F100 aircraft. A lifelong fan of flying, he had a lengthy career as a pilot for a major airline flying worldwide. Always looking for new experiences, Mike was part of the fledgling sport of skydiving in the early 1960s and restarted jumping in the 1990s.
Hunting, fishing and pursuing perfection on the golf course were just a few of his pastimes. So willing to help friends and family, he was a wonderful husband, fantastic father and grandfather and great best friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at a future date to celebrate his life.

Dear Ellie,
We knew each other for so short a time, having met at Hillsdale College at a Hostel. He was a great person to know & we are saddened by his passing. May God bless you & the rest of your family & give you peace & comfort.

Dear Ellie, Kara and Michael,
My deepest sympathy to you all for the pain Mike's passing has and will cause. I have such a deep sense of gratitude for all the skydiving expertise he gave while I was writing my book and for the much appreciated help he gave me in my house and yard. He was one of a kind.
Sincerely,
Barb

Dear Ellie and family,
Although we only got to know Mike for a short while, we certainly got to see his great intellect and willingness to connect with "new" people. Our fondest wish is that you are all able to eventually recall happy times and great memories.

I have known Mike since the '70s and he was one of the finest pilots I ever knew. I can only think of Mike as now God's personal skywriter par excellence. May God bless and keep him always.
