Obituary for Kristina Thirjung
9/1/1917 – 11/13/2015

Kristina Thirjung, born September 1, 1917, was granted her angel wings on November 13, 2015. Kristina is known as a devout person of faith, love and generosity. She was dedicated to family and friends each of her 98 years on this earth. She was the finest daughter, daughter-in-law, spouse, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her generous nature put family and friendships above all else. We revere every moment and memory.

Kris was predeceased by the love of her life, Jacob (Jack) Thirjung in 1986; son, Gary Samuel, 2013. Remaining family are sister, Ann Vinton; granddaughter, Amy (Michael Weiss); grandson, Jacob; great granddaughter, Julia Kristina. Kris is also survived by loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

Kris led a rich life surrounded by the goodness that she gave so freely to others. She was a determined spirit completing her high school diploma in her 70s. The deep quality of Kris’s existence can be seen in every chapter of her long life story. It lives on in each of us fortunate to have known her.

In her last years, last days, Kris retained her effervescent spirit and determination. She was a soldier who could acknowledge and accept life’s realities, celebrations and vagaries while being firmly rooted in faith, hope and optimism. She was counselor, guide and support for all of us.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 17, 2015, from 2:00 – 9:00 p.m., at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 9800 S. Telegraph Rd. Taylor, MI.
