Robert F. (Bob) Bouvier, son of Antonio and Mary O. (Robert) Bouvier passed away at home on January 5, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Woonsocket, RI on February 2, 1931 and soon thereafter the family moved to Hartford, CT. Son of a barber, Bob attended St. Anne's School, St. Thomas Seminary and graduated from Hartford Public High School. Bob served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Kent. He was active in the Hartford Democratic Party serving as Co-Chairman of the 9th Ward. Bob was also a long-time member of the Fran-Am Club as well as a communicant of St. Brigid Church where he was a Minister of the Eucharist, Lector and served on both the Parish Council and Home & School Association. Most recently Bob was a communicant of St. Peter Claver Church in West Hartford. In 1959, as a door to door salesman, Bob established an insurance agency which is now known as Bouvier Insurance and remained President until his retirement in 2005. As an avid golfer, Bob enjoyed many years with his great friends at Rockledge Golf Club, where he achieved a coveted hole-in-one on the 13th hole. For over 25 years he looked forward to his monthly card games with some of his dearest friends. He was an ardent clock enthusiast, collecting and repairing early American timepieces over the years. Bob also relished time with his family, especially many fishing and camping trips throughout New England. He also enjoyed playing the piano and ukulele, singing along with all of his grandchildren. He was blessed with an incredible wit and sense of humor that he shared with everyone until his last days. Bob was pre-deceased by his brother Norman Bouvier, his sisters Sr. Claire Bouvier and Blanche Hare and his granddaughter Havilah Sabella. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Colette (Roy) Bouvier and their six children, Valerie (Bouvier) Sabella and her husband Ken of Plymouth, MA and their children Jeremy (Sarah), Hayley, Gabriel and Christian; Denise (Bouvier) Desmarais and her husband Tom of West Hartford and their children Nicholas (Jennifer), Gregory and Emily; Rob Bouvier and his wife Dorothy of West Hartford and their children Brendan, Shannon and Kellen; Gregory Bouvier of Farmington and his children Danielle and Michael; Nicole (Bouvier) Pilon and her husband David of Farmington and their children Bethany and Adam and Richard Bouvier and his wife Nicole of West Hartford and their children Jackson, Mitchell and Perry. Special thanks to all his care givers including Dr. Matthew Colliton, Dr. Adam Boruchov, Dr. Srimathi Manickaratnam (Dr. Sri) and Dr. Steven Lane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday January 8, 2016 at 10am directly at the Church of St. Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. There will be no calling hours. I had the honor and privilege to meet Bob and Colette about 3 months ago when Bob needed some extra assistance at home. I came in to help him, but he helped me instead. Bob has a personality, a heart, a smile, and a love about him that just grabs you like God is holding you tight with both arms! I felt welcomed into their home, they made me part of their family, and I looked forward going to see Bob and Colette. It wasn't a job to me. I felt so much love in that home! The love that Bob and Colette have for one another is such an inspiration. The love that all 6 children have for their parents is truly admirable and I find my time with Bob and Colette a true Blessing.
Bob, I will truly miss you!
I will see you again some day.
With Love,
Krissy Sullivan

Dear Bouvier Family: I think I remember Mr. Bouvier best at St. Brigid School working in the kitchen for every bingo, spaghetti supper, and breakfast fundraiser the school ever had. I also remember him coming to our house to play cards with my dad and their buddies. Please know how very sad my family is for your family. Mr. Bouvier was a family man, a hard worker, a role model, a gentleman and an all-around great guy. We will miss him a lot. With our deepest sympathy, the Barbieri Family.

Dear Bouvier Family,
We have enough wonderful memories to last a life time as we all grew up together not only as friends but extended members of the St. Brigid School family. Golf Tournaments, Anniversary Masses, Annual Galas ... filled our calendars over the years and to this day enable us to celebrate our roots and make more memories. Your support and generosity over the years has enabled our cherished SBS to continue to thrive.
Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers and we will continue to include you all in our prayer chain as we have during Mr. Bouvier's illness.
God Bless you all,

Mrs. Bouvier, I've copied and pasted a message I sent last night to Richard when I heard the sad news. Ironically, today, January 6 is the 23rd anniversary of my dad's passing - and also from cancer. As I noted below, while Bob and I were alone and you and Chris were in your kitchen, he said to me a statement which is such a wonderful and true thought as to what is truly something we all should aspire for every day of our lives. Loving and admiring our families!

"Rich:

I just heard the sad news. I just wanted to pass along my deepest sympathy to you and your family. As you know I've been quite fond of your parents and always felt that feeling was mutual.

My sister and I had stopped over right before Christmas with one of my brother in law's famed smoked tenderloins. We had a wonderful visit with your parents. While your mom was in the kitchen with my sister, your dad pointed out the family portraits on the wall near the entrance to the room. He said something then that I want to share with you and your siblings.

"My greatest legacy is right there on the wall, my children. They all work hard, get along with each other, and are good people. They are the best success I had in life."

May he rest in peace and perpetual light shine upon him always.

Best regards,

Tom"

Dear Collette and all of the wonderful Bouvier family.

Bob was a wise, and gentle and a loving person. A self made man who was a fine example of a professional, a father, a friend, and a Catholic.
Distance and time separated us but each moment shared with him was a treasure.
I will miss my cousin. God love him and keep him forever.
