Joseph P. Shramek, Jr., 102, of West Barnstable, MA and formerly of Windsor, CT beloved husband of the late Dorothy (LaDucer) Shramek, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2025. Born in Hartford, son of the late Joseph P. and Katherine (Rozmyslowitz) Shramek, Sr., he was raised in Hartford graduating from Hartford Public High School. Joseph enlisted in the US Marine Corps after graduation to serve in WWII in the European Theatre of operations in the North Atlantic guarding Naval Operations. Before his discharge he married his late wife Dorothy LaDucer and entered the Pierre School of Art where he learned his skills as a draftsman. He started his career with Pratt & Whitney, then Hamilton Standard finally retiring from UTC as head of their Graphics Department. A proud moment in his graphics & illustration career was special recognition for his part working on the Appollo 11 Mission life support systems. In retirement, he enjoyed painting, woodcarving, as well as fishing and especially surf casting. He leaves two sons David P. Shramek of Portland and Gary M. Shramek and his wife Kate Barrett of West Barnstable, MA; grandchildren Wendi Shramek-Woolford (Jay), Debra Royce, Steven Shramek, David R. Shramek (Rebecca), Adam Shramek (Sutton); step grandchildren Nicholas and Stephanie Thum; and greatgrandchildren Victor Woolford, Eli, Chase, David C., and Emily E. Shramek. Besides his parents, wife Dorothy, he was predeceased by a son Walter J. Shramek and sisters Mary Pare' and Emily Farkas. His family will receive friends Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 11 am-12 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave. Windsor. Burial will follow in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnels to Towers in his memory.
