Patrick C. "Neil" McGillicuddy

SOUTHAMPTON- Neil McGillicuddy, age 80, of Southampton, died on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ballyhaunis, County Mayo, Ireland, son of the late Dennis and Honora (Tarpey) McGillicuddy and was educated in Ireland. Neil had lived here for many years, and was a retired longtime employee of Sweet Life Foods. He was a member of Teamsters Local 559, and a life member of the John Boyle O'Reilly Club of Springfield. Neil lived in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield for many years, and enjoyed the monthly Sweet Life Breakfast Club meetings. He is survived by his beloved wife Catherina "Kathleen" (Gorman) McGillicuddy, a son Cornelius "Neil" McGillicuddy of Southampton, a daughter Ann-Margaret McGillicuddy of Southampton, a sister Myra O'Connor of Ireland, a brother-in-law John Gorman and wife Mary of Manchester CT, three sisters-in-law: Ann Baker and husband Sean of Chicopee, Margaret O'Connor and husband Michael of Ireland and Bridie Gibbons and husband Joseph of Ireland, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Neil was predeceased by a son Patrick in 1971. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke is handling arrangements.
