Richard "Mobil Dick" Artress

Richard W. Artress, age 79, of Lapeer died September 9, 2013 at home with his family. Dick was born February 22, 1934 in Mayville. The son of the late Clare and Zetia Artress. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force. "Mobil Dick" as he was known, owned and operated the Mobil station at the corner of Elba and Davison Road till 1979. He was avid Ford man, and was well known for his 65 Mustang. Richard is survived by his wife Debbie, Children: Teri ( Al ) Dietrich, Rick ( Alma ) Artress, Scott Artress, Colby Artress, Angela Weathers, Adam ( Jessica ) Artress, Andy ( Sarah ) Artress, Mike ( Vanessa ) Whitman, Tony ( Meribeth ) Whitman, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Bertha, daughter Pamela, son-in-law David, siblings Paul and Margaret, and first wife Peggy. Cremation has taken place and a celebration life will be held on October 26, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Elba Township Hall. Memorials in memory of Dick may be made to McLaren Hospice. The family would like to thank hospice, especially Tammy & Lisa.
