Rachel McKeel Parrish, 80, passed away on Wednesday evening at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Rachel was born in Johnston County on June 5, 1934 to the late Roby and Elizabeth Evans McKeel. She had worked for many years as the medical secretary for Dr. Stockdale in Smithfield. Rachel was a member of First Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her unconditional love as a wife and mother, and a friend to all. So too will she be remembered for her compassionate spirit and soul, and her gift of finding joy in doing random acts of kindness for others and her grandsons. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 2:00 –3:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service celebrating Rachel's life at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel with Dr. Glenn Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Rachel is survived by her husband of 63 years, Paul Glenn Parrish; son, Kevin Parrish and wife Melody of Goldsboro; sisters, Evelyn Allen of Smithfield and Adell Boykin of Garner; brothers, Willie McKeel of Princeton, Worth McKeel of Goldsboro and Richard McKeel of Selma; and grandsons, Andrew Parrish and David Parrish. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Ray McKeel, Gene Franklin McKeel and Ralph McKeel.
