Francis J. Moran

Francis J. Moran, 92, of Newton, died on January 20, 2017. He was a World War II, US Navy Veteran, and a retired firefighter for the City of Newton after 32 years, spending his entire career assigned to Engine 10 at the Oak Hill station. Mr. Moran worked for New England Mobile Book Fair for over 20 years. He enjoyed music, books, books on tape and loved his pets, especially his cat Stella. He was the beloved husband of the late Cecelia (Dixon) Moran and the loving father of Joan Moran of Newton. Brother of the late Harold, Jean Shomphe, Paul and Lillian Moran. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Church, 1321 Centre St., Newton Center on Tuesday, January 31st at 10:30 AM. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to Perkins School for the Blind, 175 No. Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472.
