Edward Sweeney Obituary

Published by D'Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall on Jun. 16, 2017.
Edward H. Sweeney Springfield, PA Edward H. Sweeney was born June 20 1924 in Chicago to Edward and Madeline (nee Palm) Sweeney. He died June 16, 2017 at Taylor Hospice in Ridley Park. Ed grew up on the northwest side of Chicago attending Farnsworth Public Grammar School and Schurz High School. His college education was interrupted by WWII. During the war, Ed was a radio operator/jeep driver as part of the 380th Army Combat Corps of Engineers. In June 1949 Ed graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Ed met Emily Kasper after the war and they were married in October 1949. Ed was adamant that he had lived a great life, been blessed with Lee, his one true love for 67 years of marriage, and was proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Ed was a strong and gracious gentleman, unstinting in his love and support for his family. In business and in life, he would not take short cuts, condone unethical behavior, or give less than l00%. This credo served him well as Ed enjoyed success in his thirty-four year career with Arobone and Cline as a sales engineer. Ed was steadfast in his faith and devotion to making the world a better place through service to others. He was an active and original member of St. Kevin Parish in Springfield, PA. Edward is survived by his wife,. Lee and his 5 children, Susan, Edward (Nhung), Robert (Vel), Kathleen (Ronald) Caporizzo, John (Rosemary); 10 grandchildren, Teresa, Martin, Mark, Rachael, Jennifer, Matthew, Laura, Katherine, John, Eric; one great-grandchild, Ani Lee and his only sister, Darlene (William) McGrath. He was preceded in death by his parents. Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Wednesday, 7-9 PM and Thursday, 8:30-9:30 AM at the Danjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM at St. Kevin's Church, Springfield, PA. Interment Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery. To all the Sweeney family, we have fond memories of Ed and Lee and their children. Ed and my father, John Sweeney, were close friends from their Army days and remained friends all through the years. A good and gentle man he was, always had a kind word for everyone.
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him.

I truly would love to have been able to go to the funeral. I knew him as a lecter at church and Lee, his wife, as a choir member. He is survived by a wonderful family. You can be sure you are in my prayers.
