May you find rest Tommy.

October 20, 2017

The Varsity Boys Soccer family was greatly saddened to hear of Tommy's passing. As an upperclassman, he was kind and welcoming to the younger players. Whether it was laughs at soccer practice or a hello in the hallways, Tommy was someone people wanted to be around. He brightened their lives with that smile and his generosity of spirit. As the boys move on to the playoffs tomorrow, they honor Tommy's memory and hold him in their hearts.

Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. May you find comfort in knowing that he will live on forever in the hearts and minds of his teammates, and the entire soccer community. Your family will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

I really am sorry Tommy for posting this late, you were the baby brother I had. I was and still am in shock of your passing hence my last report. I knew you since we were kids. You were never my friend you were and always be my brother. I love little broskie you are the best souls God put in my life. You were honest with people about how you felt about them and that is the quality I liked in you. We are related not by blood but by spirit.

It was great you confided in me and I in you either be about God, Life choices or anything you used to call me (Chuchuri my brother from another mother) You left too soon Oct 12 will forever be imprinted on my heart as the day I lost a baby brother. MAMA Tommy and Thereza I love both you and wanted to let you know that God got him in his presence. God bless and forgive his iniquities AMEN. Rest easy and in peace broskie

Dear Mrs. Alex,
My heart goes out to you and the rest of your family at this tragic time. My name is Rebecca Vogel and I was so lucky to have had the opportunity to attend the Snowball Dance junior year with Tommy. He treated me with such respect and kindness, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect date. From what Tommy told me, he only had so much love and admiration for you and your family. You truly raised a extraordinary man who touched so many lives in his life.

Tommy was more than a friend, he was a brother. We met in high school where we became great friends as we were both the only African men in school. He was always full of joy and happiness. He would bring light to a dark room. We hung out plenty a times and made memories that i will never forget. May his soul Rest In Peace

Will you embrace the angels who grace the gates of eternity? A kiss on the forehead for all, that they may feel a soul, yours. Pinky promise me that your dashiki will remain the perfume of your flesh in spirit form. Your 4a type hair be the handkerchief that extends itself in an effort to absorb my escaping tears. Our tears... the mixture of internal wells expanding to soften the memories of you. May your wings stretch as wide as the grasses and grains of your homeland. Love eternal. Alex.

To Grace, the Alex family, and all of Tommy's teammates over the years, neighbors, classmates and those he touched in 19 years with his smile and laughter...

My family and I are so saddened to hear of Tommy's passing...I was blessed to have started my mornings with Tommy over four years in high school as his homeroom teacher. Although it was a rare treat to have Tommy arrive by 8:00 when the late bell rang, the real treat came when Tommy flashed his smile around 8:03 (or even later) and said, "C'Mon Mr. L...can you cut a brother a break today!!!???" By senior year I would most mornings -- I had the pleasure of teaching Tommy in class and even had Tommy over to the house to help him prep for his SAT/ACT exams...even our daughter got to know and love Tommy when she opened the door on some nights to let him in for tutoring, or when Kayla came in for "bring your child to work day" -- he always loved and wore her bracelets that she made for him!

I still remember the BEAR HUG he gave me when I called his name on graduation night...unlike my tears right now, the tears we shared that night were flowing with great joy and a sense of accomplishment by graduating from Mt. Lebanon High School. He was so proud! Tommy...we are all so proud -- for you made our lives better and happier for knowing you! May God bless you and your beautiful family and Rwandan community here in Pittsburgh forever....I love you, brother!

Tommy was the most special person I ever had the privilege of coaching. He came from worlds away and brought sunshine into our lives. For years our teams carried a sense of brotherly love that Tommy helped to create. I will never forget the happy fall afternoons we all shared. I know you are watching us from up there. I will always remember the kindness you showed everyone and how much of a genuine person you were. Sometimes it seems that life is not fair but I know You are in a better place. Jesus wanted you so badly he could not wait. Its not good bye but see you later. The passing of Thomas is a disappointing one, reminding us all of the mortality of our human nature. While his whole future was practically set in stone at this point in his life, he will be remembered in his end as someone whom; no matter what character; spread happiness to whoever accepted. I had worked on many school projects and even sat with him during lunch for a semester, and always had a healthy relationship with him due to his kind nature.

I am heartbroken to hear of Tommy's passing. He was an amazing person, teammate, and friend and he had a talent for bringing a smile to the faces of those around him. I have so many great memories of Tommy since he came here in middle school and I am truly grateful for the time we spent together both on and off the soccer field. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Tommy was one of the nicest, kindest, and funniest people I've ever met. He was in my home room in high school and every morning as I walked in half awake and miserable, I'd see his smiling face and he would just brighten my day and make it 1000x better. He had this radiant glow around him that just made life enjoyable.

I will never forget Tommy. He will live on forever in all of our memories. My thoughts are with you and your family.
