Peter William Carr

PEABODY - Mr. Peter William Carr, of Watertown; Stoneham & Falmouth, MA; Naples & Bradenton, FL., died peacefully at Brooksby Village in Peabody early Monday morning, June 25, 2018 . He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret (Power) Carr & his five children: Mary Carr of Nashua, NH; Sean Carr of Glastonbury, CT; Margaret Poulin of Marblehead; Peter Carr of Marshfield; & Kate Connors of Reading. He was a proud grandfather to his 12 beloved grandchildren: Connor, William & Michael Popik; Sean & Ryan Carr; Henry, Lucie, & Josie Poulin; Nicholas & Nathan Carr; & Daisy & Patrick Connors. Peter grew up in Watertown & graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1948. In 1952, he enlisted in the Army & served in Germany & Italy as a Cost Accountant. He was honorably discharged in 1954 & went to work at the Boston & Maine Railroad as a clerk in the Comptroller's office. In 1959, he received a degree from Bentley University after attending night school. 37 years after joining the B&M, Peter retired as the VP/Finance for the Guilford Transportation Industries, Inc. Peter is predeceased by his parents, Myles & Katherine Carr, his brothers Lawrence & Paul Carr & leaves behind many treasured nieces & nephews. He will be remembered fondly by his family & friends as a true gentleman, an honest accountant & an avid golfer. He would often say his favorite moments were his summers on the Cape, sailing in Hen's Cove & across West Falmouth harbor with his children & visiting his wife's farm in Ballinamertina in Ardmore, County Waterford, Ireland. ARRANGEMENTS: Peter will be buried from a Catholic Mass at the Brooksby Village Chapel, 100 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, MA on Friday, August 31 at 11 AM. A Celebration of Life Reception will immediately follow.
