Adela Knight Obituary

Published by Porter Loring Mortuary North on Aug. 26, 2018.
Adela Serna Knight arrived in her heavenly home on August 26, 2018 at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Lawrence Knight and her beloved grandson, Christopher Charles Knight. Although she lived most of her life in San Antonio, Adela was born on April 30, 1920 in San Diego, Texas and lived her last years in Houston, Texas. She was the last surviving child of Refugio and Amelia Serna and was one of the seven sisters after whom the Seven Sisters oil field in South Texas and the town of Seven Sisters, Texas was named. She was the first member of her family to graduate from high school and proudly marched with the Brackenridge High School Band. She was a lifelong Catholic and made friends in her parishes: St. Henry's, St. Thomas More and St. Mark the Evangelist. Left behind to remember her are her four children, Virginia Rodgers (David) of Pt. Isabel, TX, Rose Penaloza (Dan) of Houston, TX, Charles Knight (Sharon) of Seven Sisters, TX and Jim Knight of Grand Prairie, TX. Della had seven grandchildren: Scott Rodgers of Bellevue, WA, Michael Rodgers of Merritt Island, FL, Andrea Penaloza of Houston, TX, Daniel Anthony Penaloza II of Houston, TX, Meredith Hanna of Arlington, TX, Beverly Knight of San Antonio, TX and Kahn Knight of Plano, TX; plus, ten great grandchildren: Teresa, Christopher, Ryan, Dylan, Anthony, Jordan, Finley, Ewan, Dante, and Freya, plus two great-great grandchildren: Gabriel and Wyatt. The family wishes to thank Living Hospice Care of Texas (especially Kalon), and Michael's House (personal care home) for the tender care during her last few months. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 3, 2018, at Porter Loring Mortuary North. PRAYER SERVICE MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2018 7:00 P.M. PORTER LORING NORTH CHAPEL MASS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2018 10:00 A.M. ST. MARK THE EVANGELIST CATHOLIC CHURCH 1602 THOUSAND OAKS Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

To the Family of my dear friend, Della, (Aunt Della).
My heart is heavy for you. I will miss her, talking on the phone the last few years.
All the fun we used to have as neighbors and later when she would come to San Antonio.
Loved her dearly.

It was a absolute pleasure taking care of Mrs Adela behind that tough exterior was a kind and thoughtful person. She was so proud of her family especially the Aggies!! While I take pleasure in doing my best to make her last days comfortable and dignified, I will miss and always remember my dear Mrs. Adela. Prayers and Love
