Richard Lockley

Richard Phillip Lockley, 60, of New York City, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 31, 2020 with his life partner Angie Maria Hankins by his side. Richard was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 27, 1960 to Tyrone and Patricia Lockley and moved to Akron, Pennsylvania as a child. Richard graduated from the University of Chicago, receiving a Masters of Business Administration, and from West Chester University of Pennsylvania receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. Richard loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. Each one of them had a special, unique relationship with Richard that they cherish. Richard was a world class adventurer and a serious athlete, traveling and visiting places all over the world. At an early age he loved playing soccer and basketball. Richard was passionate about cycling, and was an avid triathlete. He ran both the Chicago and New York Marathons, and competed in many triathlon events including the Ironman Championship in Kona; and the New York City Ironman and the Canada half Ironman. "He was an Ironman." Many of his travels and adventures were shared with Angie, and many of his friends. Richard and Angie shared a passion for travel, good food, fitness and family. They biked, ran and took food tours where ever they travelled including Spain, Italy, Argentina, Brazil, Korea, the Netherlands, Paris, and London. He also biked across Portugal and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with his good friend and business partner Moses Sawney. Richard took many cycling trips with his boys: Keith Cooper, Corey Pendleton and John Sydnor along with others, most recently in Scottsdale, Arizona. Richard loved a good challenge and had a successful business career as an IT professional at Quaker Oats/Gatorade, a banking analyst with ING Bank in Vietnam, a real estate investment banker at Bank of America in San Francisco, CA and Charlotte, NC, and a Senior Manager at Thompson, Cobb, Bazilio and Associates in Washington, D.C. More recently, Richard was a forensic economist with Jerome S. Paige & Associates. Additionally, Richard founded several businesses with Moses (Vondrais and Kearus Associates). Richard is survived by his partner Angie, his father, Tyrone Lockley of Wesley Chapel, Florida, his brothers Patrick of La Crosse, Wisconsin, and Mark (Cheryl) of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Richard is also survived by his Aunt Jean Anthony of Chicago, Illinois and his nieces and nephews, Alex, Emily, Zachary and Sydney. Richard was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Lockley and his Grandparents. Richard's smile lit up a room. He will be forever missed for his zest for life and his commitment to the many people he touched in his journey. A memorial mass will be held on January 7, 2021, at 10 am, at The Church of the Immaculate Conception located at 414 East 14th Street, New York, New York, 10009; and streamed live at https://immaculateconception-nyc.org/ . A private celebration of Richard's life and the scattering of his ashes will take place at a later date.
