Maynard – Mr. David T. Loughlin, of Maynard, formerly of Waltham, died Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was 57. David was born and raised in Waltham, a son of the late Joseph F., Jr. and Barbara J. (Brown) Loughlin. He was a 1981 graduate of Waltham High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. After that he attended the University of New Hampshire. Dave was a finish carpenter whose talent earned him a lifetime of loyal customers. He was well known in the trades for his precision and attention to detail. One of his best days came when he married the love of his life, Cynthia Moran. The pair made Hudson their home before moving to Maynard in 1992 where they would raise their two boys, Shaun and Zachary. Dave loved being a member of the Maynard community; he had been a proud coach for the town's high school football program and when his sons were young he also coached their football and baseball teams. He was also a member of the Maynard Elks Club and the Maynard Rod and Gun Club. Dave was an avid sports fan and in his later years played softball for years with the Waltham Men's League at Cornelia Warren Field. He could always make fast friends with his warm and welcoming demeanor and genuinely kind and compassionate personality. He was a 'larger than life' guy—always loved being outdoors, laughing and talking with friends and neighbors, and above all loved being with his wife and children. In addition to his beloved wife, Cynthia A. (Moran), David leaves his children, Shaun D. Loughlin (Allison Ercolano) of Stow, and Zachary B. Loughlin of Maynard; his siblings, Kathleen Loughlin (Phil Langelier) of Wakefield, Judy Fligg (late Dennis) of Mashpee, John Loughlin (Linda) of Delray Beach, Florida, Jane Bella of Marlton, New Jersey, and Jeannie Horn (Rik) of Franklin, Ohio; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis Moran (Susan) of Marlborough, Patricia Moran of Burlington, and JoAnn Moran of New Bedford; and many nieces, nephews, and their families. Dave was also the brother-in-law of the late Julie Moran. Family and friends will honor and remember David's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, June 17th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private. Those wishing to view David's Funeral Mass may do so by visiting https://my.gather.app/remember/david-j-loughlin on Friday, June 18th at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of Tiger Football, 1 Michael Road, Maynard, Massachusetts 01754 or via Venmo to @FriendsofTigerFootball

So sorry for your loss. My grandsons played basketball with your sons and never met such a dedicated man to that sport. Up until Covid we so enjoyed seeing Dave at every game-home or away-it didn't matter. June and Bob Fowler.

Our family got to know Dave through Sudbury football when he was coaching our son Ryan’s team. Ryan had great respect for Dave as a coach and thrived under his leadership. We all had respect for Dave’s kindness, work ethic and willingness to help a friend. This news came as a shock and we are so saddened for your family at this tremendous loss, and send our deepest condolences. We hope you are strengthened by the love and support of the large community of people who loved Dave and whose lives he touched in some way.

So sorry to hear of Dave's passing. This is devastating to hear. Dave was a coach for my Waltham Mickey Mantle baseball team for a few summers in the late '80s. He also coached our travel tournament team those summers as well. It's been @ 30 years since I last spoke with Dave, but I remember those 2 summers like it was yesterday. No coach could fire a team up, protect a team or inspire a team to achieve like Coach Dave. Any opposing coach or player that said the wrong thing to any of us beware because Dave was coming after ya ! Simply said, Dave was a great person, coach and mentor for us all. Dave was someone you always wanted to hang out with yet also someone you could call to bail you out of trouble and know you were in good hands and protected. I will miss ya Loughlin and I know I speak for my teammates as well, you were one of the good ones. God bless and Godspeed. - Tim O'Toole

My Dad has a saying "Think Big, Act Big and you'll be Big." David was the epitome of this saying. I remember his booming voice, his humor and his genuine caring for others. I hope all will be comforted by your good memories of David.
