Thomas Bey Obituary

Published by Dean-Geitner-Givnish Funeral Home on Jun. 18, 2021.
Thomas James Bey passed away on June 18, 2021 at the age of 51. Thomas was born November 17, 1969 the last of 10 children to the late Joseph H. and Esther A. Bey in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Thomas was educated in the city of Philadelphia and graduated from Simon Gratz High School in 1987. At the age of 18, Thomas embarked on his path as an apprentice within the construction industry. He progressed within his field, obtaining his certification as a pile driver and following in the footsteps of his father. It was here he found his passion and served 33 years, with the hopes of retiring this upcoming November. While pursuing his career, he attended Community College of Philadelphia where he graduated with an Associate degree in Engineering. In addition to having an exceptional work ethic, Thomas also prided himself with his deep love, respect and admiration for his family and friends. He loved his family immensely. He was a foodie, loved music, dancing, loved to laugh, had a great sense of style and an awesome sense of humor, he loved shopping for home goods and fashion. He was also very meticulous, charming, considerate and overall thoughtful of everyone around him. His concern was always making sure everyone was okay. Thomas was a gentleman and a gentle man who loved to live life and had so much more planned! In June 2020, at a time that was most difficult for everyone in the world, Thomas was diagnosed with cancer. His struggle ended on June 18, 2021. Throughout that time Thomas was optimistic and lived the best he could and maintained his positivity and upbeat spirit. Thomas has now joined his parents and older brother David C. Bey. He is survived by his 8 beloved brothers and sisters Joseph H. Jr., Paul S., Amber, Mark J., Ruth M., Rachael H., Daniel J., Rebecca L., nieces, nephews and greats alike. Thomas also leaves behind his partner Edelyne Elie, her family, many friends and brothers from local 454. He was deeply loved and will be missed terribly. Relatives and friends are invited to Thomas' Life Celebration on Saturday, June 26th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 5930 Rising Sun Ave., Phila., followed by his Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Greenmount Cemetery. Family service by Dean-Geitner-Givnish Life Celebration Home of Fox Chase 215-745-1006.

I am so sorry to hear this. I just saw his name in the union paper. Tom helped me pass the welding test at the union school and we became friends. I sometimes worked at the convention center with his brother David , who was a great guy like tommy. I am very blessed to have them in my life. I meet his other brothers at tommy funeral and I can say the Bey family is one of the nicest people I ever meet. God bless each and everyone I will miss them both ,they added a lot to my life. God Bless the family keep tommy in our hearts forever. David Max. Local union 359

Thomas was a dear friend who was such a good soul. We had the best conversations and it saddens me that my buddy is gone. My sympathies to his family. He spoke of them often and he loved them so much.
