Anthony Casinelli Obituary

Published by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Funeral Home on Jun. 26, 2021.
Anthony R. Casinelli of Lansdale, Pa. passed away peacefully at home on June 26, 2021, at the age of 90, with his four loving children, their spouses, grandchildren and sister by his side. "Tony/Cass" as he was called by family and friends, was a man with strong faith in God and love for his country, family, and friends. Tony was born June 21, 1931, in Norristown, Pa. to the late Domenic and Florence Casinelli. He attended Conshohocken High School Class of '49, where he played basketball and football. After graduation, he attended Villanova University Class of '53. Tony was a member of the Villanova Basketball Team from 1949 to 1951 and played for coach Al Severance. He often took team members to his brother, "Big John's" Bar where his mother cooked meatballs, pasta, and pizza for them. Tony was able to attend the 1985 and 2016 Villanova's Men's National Championships with his children. He was recruited in his senior year of college and entered the Marine Corp. He was a 1st Lieutenant Marine with the rifle platoon, serving from 1953 through 1956. He attended Marine's Officer's School in Quantico, VA. Served in Korea 38th Parallel as Platoon Leader, 1st Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Upon returning from Korea, Tony married the love of his life, the former Nora T. Maile and together they raised a family of four children. Tony loved music and played clarinet and saxophone in a band with many of his friends. He loved to sing and honored his children by singing at their weddings. Tony had a long career in the beer industry as he truly never retired. He shared his knowledge and ideas with so many people he crossed paths with throughout his storied life. He began his career with the Ortlieb Brewery in the early 1960's. He went on to become General Sales Manager at Latrobe Brewing Company, Rolling Rock Beer until the family sold the brewery. In 1986, he became General Sales Manager at L&M Beverage Company, Philadelphia where he remained until 2001. After a brief notion about retiring, he initiated one final run in sales with the Yuengling Brewery where he mentored and trained many people until his official retirement in 2015. To this day, Tony is referred to as the "Icon" or "Legend" in the beer industry. Tony had a passion for golf. He was an avid golfer who had many happy times with his dear friends on the golf course. He sponsored numerous golf tournaments helping others and loved to teach the game of golf to whomever wanted to learn. Golf was his "happy place". His most meaningful legacy was his family. Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Nora (Maile) Casinelli. He is survived by his four children, Donna (Michael Mundy), David (Joanne Melito), Joan (Harry Del Buono) and Carolyn Subers and his eight grandchildren, Danielle, Nicole, Janelle, David, Regina, Noelle, Brian and Ashleigh and his great granddaughter Stella. Tony is also survived by his sister, Angeline Palermo (Frank) and was preceded in death by his two brothers, John Casinelli (Frances) and Jeano (Anne). In accordance with Anthony's wishes, all services at this time will be private. Family services are by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 610-277-7000. Tony was wise and knowledgeable about so many things and was always very generous in dolling out the right advice to the right people when they needed it. It was an honor to work with Tony and his name will bring a smile to so many when he is mentioned. You will always be remembered and missed by me and so many others. Rest in peace and my prayers are with his wonderful family.

I am sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Casinelli. He was a wonderful man and epitomized the word class. I learned many things from him over the years. My parents thoroughly enjoyed his company. I wish that he and I and Mr. DiLucia could have taken another bus trip to a Notre Dame Football game, like the classic trip in 1989. However, he lived a full and wonderful life, setting an example for all of us. RIP.

Mr. Casinelli simply stated was a "true gentlemen". Whether it was when as a young boy I would stay over with Dave or later in life when I had the pleasure of working with Mr. C, he was always gracious, welcoming and sincere. He was a big man with a gentle touch. Tony, God bless, rest in peace and please say hi to Mrs. Casinelli for us. I miss her bean soup!

What a " class act " individual !! I loved Tony the first day I met him and was always impressed with his strong faith, his incredible family values and willingness to always help someone in need. Tony was an icon in the beer business but never was too busy to spend time teaching me lessons in both business but more importantly in life. His great family carry the same Tony/Cas values forward everyday and that is the ultimate testament to this great man. Love Ya Tony !!
