Michael (Yogi) Hammond, husband of Roseann (Snookie) for 53 years, died peacefully at home on July 7, 2021. He was the son of the late Emmett (Margaret Dunbar). He is survived by his loving wife, Roseann, foster daughter, Thanh Tran (Henry), his brother Emmett (Joan), sisters, Margaret Mary Frymoyer (Kenneth), Judith Haflin (Joseph), brothers-in-law Martin Tarmin, Anthony Tarmin (Patricia), James Tarmin (Mary Anne), many nieces & nephews, and great nieces & great nephews. Mike attended the former Bridgeport High School where he was a distinguished athlete excelling in football and basketball. He also attended Augusta Military Academy. He was a life member of the Bridgeport Fire Company. His love of football led him to volunteer coaching of the Bridgeport Dragons and the Norristown Vikings. He was always available to help kids learn the sport of football and the importance of having fun and enjoying the game. Mike's greatest joy was his love of family and friends. His fierce loyalty knew no boundaries. He loved not only watching his nieces and nephews playing sports but also the greatest memories were spent tossing a football or baseball or playing games in his backyard enjoying being "Uncle Mike". Mike will be sadly missed by the love of his life Snookie and all his family and friends. Mike's Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday July 16, 2021 at 11 AM at Visitation BVM Church. Rest in peace, Uncle Mike. Some of my favorite memories of you include your football coaching days (go Dragons!), picnics at your home in the summer, and your witty sense of humor. Everyone was welcome at your house. Your love for Aunt Snookie was strong and she loved you back just as much; your bond is the kind for which everyone hopes. Aunt Snookie, we love you and you remain in our thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Maggie & Nate
